Immortal Realm Travel Guide: Moongates, Cities, Banks, and Safe Routes

How to travel safely on Immortal Realm — moongates, runebooks, recall, the major cities, banking, and Felucca travel warnings.

Travel on Immortal Realm is mostly straightforward. Moongates connect every major city, runebooks let serious travelers store specific destinations, and Recall (with Magery) lets you skip the moongate steps entirely. This page is the practical reference.

Quick Answer

You Want To... Use
Travel between cities Moongates
Skip the moongate dance Magery + Recall to a runebook entry
Travel quickly across a continent Magery + Gate (also brings party)
Travel safely Stay on Trammel; use moongates near guarded plazas
Visit Felucca Bring nothing you can't lose; expect PvP

Moongate Basics

Moongates are large blue portals that let you travel between major cities at no skill cost.

Question Answer
Where are they? Every major city has one
How do I use it? Walk into it; pick destination from the gump
Cost? Free
Skill requirement? None
Trammel-only? No — Felucca has them too

How to use one:

  1. Find a moongate (every major city).
  2. Walk into it.
  3. A gump opens listing all destinations.
  4. Click the destination you want.
  5. You appear at that city's moongate.

That's it. There's no charge. No cooldown. No level requirement.

The Major Cities

These are the cities you'll actually visit regularly:

City Why You Go There
New Haven New character spawn, welcome quest, starter content
Britain Civic Orders (Chirurgeons, Ledger, Velvet Hand), bounty board, auction house
Trinsic Paladin training, mid-tier content, Bounty Orbit Quest target
Vesper Crafting hub, fishing, tinker training
Yew Chirurgeon-related lore, druidic content, swamp access
Skara Brae Bardic content, Highland Heath access
Magincia Trade hub, market activity (varies by season)
Moonglow Mage tower, magery training
Jhelom Combat training, dueling

Bookmark Britain. You'll spend more time there than anywhere else.

Travel for New Players

Your first real travel happens during the New Haven welcome quest — one moongate trip, usually to Britain. After that:

  1. Bank in New Haven before traveling. Your bank is shared across the realm.
  2. Take the New Haven moongate to Britain.
  3. Look around Britain. The civic layer is concentrated there.
  4. Take the Britain moongate back to New Haven, or to wherever you want to go next.

Don't be afraid to use moongates frequently. There's no cost.

Runebooks

Once you have some Magery skill (or buy a pre-marked runebook from a vendor), you can travel via Recall:

  1. Cast Recall on a runebook entry.
  2. You teleport to the marked location.
  3. Books typically hold many entries; you pick which to recall to.

Marked locations can be anywhere — not just cities. Common runebook entries:

  • Your house front door
  • Major city banks
  • Your guild hall
  • Specific dungeon entrances
  • Crafting workshop areas

Buy or make a runebook early. It pays for itself within a week.

Magery Travel: Recall and Gate

Spell Circle / Reliable Cast Cost What It Does
Recall 4th circle / ~50 Magery Reagents Teleport you to a marked spot
Mark 6th circle / ~75 Magery Reagents Mark a rune at your current location
Gate Travel 7th circle / ~85 Magery Reagents Open a gate that brings party members too

Lower skill values can sometimes cast these spells, but the failure rate climbs sharply below the reliable threshold. Recall is the workhorse; Mark you only cast when adding a new rune; Gate Travel is for groups.

Banking Locations

Every major city has a banker. Standing near one and saying bank opens your bank box.

City Bank Location
New Haven Just south of the moongate
Britain Bank center, near the moongate
Trinsic Inside the city walls, near the gate
Vesper Bank near the docks
Most cities Visible from the moongate plaza

Your bank box is shared across all characters on your account. Anything important goes there.

Felucca Travel Warning

Felucca is open PvP outside of guard-protected zones. The moongate plazas are safer than the wilderness, but:

Situation Risk
In Felucca moongate plaza Low (guard zone)
Walking 50 tiles outside the plaza Real — any player can attack
In a Felucca dungeon Real — and reduced safe-zone protection
Champion spawn area Very real — coordinated PvP groups likely

Practical Felucca rules:

  • Bring nothing you can't lose. Light gear, replaceable.
  • Travel in groups when you can.
  • Know your exit route — Recall back to a Trammel rune is your friend.
  • Powerscrolls and Fel-exclusive resources are why you go — see PvP and Fel Iron for the reward side.

If you're not yet ready for Felucca, don't go. Trammel has plenty of content.

Travel for Specific Activities

Activity Best Travel Setup
Crafting / gathering Vesper bank rune + workshop runes
Civic Order work Britain bank rune + Hall runes
Bounty hunting Britain bank + Trinsic + dungeon entrances
Quest content Quest-specific runes (Ashen Pact, Britannia Murders)
Convoy escort Stay where the convoy spawns; don't pre-position
PvP / champ spawns Felucca runes near safe entry points

Common Mistakes

  • Using moongates when you have Recall. Slower for no reason once Magery is up.
  • Not buying a runebook. A pre-made one with major cities is cheap and saves hours.
  • Recalling without checking what's at the destination. A bank rune is safe; a dungeon rune lands you next to monsters.
  • Going to Felucca without a return plan. Once you die there, you've lost loot. Plan your exit.
  • Sticking to one city. Different content lives in different cities; rotation matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Magery to travel?
No. Moongates handle realm-wide travel without any skill requirement. Magery's Recall and Gate spells are faster but optional — many players go their entire shard career on moongates alone. Recall is a quality-of-life upgrade, not a requirement.
Are moongates safe?
On Trammel, yes — moongates and the cities they connect are guard-protected and safe from PvP. On Felucca, the moongate areas are safer than the wilderness but you can still be attacked once you walk away from the gate. Felucca is open PvP everywhere outside guard zones.
Can I be killed while traveling?
On Trammel, no. On Felucca, yes — once you leave a guard-protected zone, any other player can attack you. Felucca travel demands different precautions than Trammel; the page covers them.
