Immortal Realm is a fan-run, non-commercial Ultima Online shard. These terms govern your use of the Shard and this website. Please read them once when you join and review the dated update line at the bottom on return visits.

About Immortal Realm section icon

About Immortal Realm

Immortal Realm ("the Shard," "we," "us," or "our") is a fan-run, non-commercial Ultima Online server operated as a hobby project. The Shard is provided free of charge as a community service. Optional patron subscriptions exist solely to offset hosting and infrastructure costs and confer no gameplay-altering advantage that would constitute a sale of game access.

Immortal Realm is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Electronic Arts Inc., Origin Systems, or any successor rights holder of the Ultima Online intellectual property. The Shard is run on the open-source ServUO emulator and exists under fan-server precedent.

Intellectual Property section icon

Intellectual Property

Ultima Online® is a registered trademark of Electronic Arts Inc. All Ultima Online artwork, character names, locations, lore elements, and other game assets that originate from the official Ultima Online client and its expansions remain the property of their respective rights holders. We claim no ownership of those assets. Their use here falls under recognized non-commercial fan-server practice.

Original content created by Immortal Realm staff and contributors — including custom systems, custom quests, custom lore, custom art, written guides, infographs, and slide decks — is provided to the community for personal, non-commercial use. Reusing this original content outside Immortal Realm requires permission. Contact us before reproduction, redistribution, or derivative work.

ServUO and ClassicUO are open-source software released by their respective project teams under their own licenses. Our use of those projects complies with their license terms. We contribute back where appropriate.

Acceptable Use section icon

Acceptable Use

By connecting to the Shard or using this website, you agree to the Server Rules published at /rules and to behave lawfully and respectfully toward other players and staff. The Server Rules form a binding part of these terms.

You agree not to: (a) attempt to disrupt, attack, or compromise the Shard's infrastructure or any other player's access; (b) reverse-engineer, scrape, or republish the Shard's custom content without permission; (c) use the Shard or this website to commit any act unlawful in your jurisdiction or in the operator's jurisdiction; (d) impersonate staff, attempt to obtain credentials from other players, or otherwise misrepresent your identity in a way that could harm the community.

Staff retain the right to suspend, ban, or remove access for any account at their reasonable discretion in defense of the community, the Shard's stability, or these terms.

Account Ownership section icon

Account Ownership

Accounts on the Shard are personal, non-transferable, and provided as a gratuitous service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. We do not recover lost passwords through informal channels — use the published recovery process or contact staff directly.

Selling, buying, leasing, or trading accounts (including for in-game gold, real-world currency, or any other consideration) is prohibited and may result in immediate, permanent account closure. Account closure does not generate any refund obligation, including for active patron subscriptions.

Game characters, items, gold, achievements, and any other in-account state are not your property. They are persistent records within the Shard's database that we maintain at our discretion. Backups exist for disaster recovery only and are not retrieval guarantees for player-side mistakes.

Patron Subscriptions section icon

Patron Subscriptions

Optional patron subscriptions are available to support the Shard's hosting and infrastructure costs. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store or directly handle payment-card data; that responsibility lies with Stripe under Stripe's own terms of service and privacy policy.

Patron status confers cosmetic and quality-of-life entitlements within the Shard, including access to the Patron Reward Rail of the Seasonal Ledger system. Patron entitlement does not constitute a sale of game access, special competitive advantage, or any guarantee of service availability.

Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time through Stripe's customer portal. Cancellation ends future billing cycles. We do not issue prorated refunds for the current billing period unless required by law in the operator's or your jurisdiction. Patron entitlements continue through the end of the paid period after cancellation, then enter the Grace state defined in the Seasonal Ledger system, then expire.

Patron subscriptions are not a transferable asset. They cannot be moved between accounts.

Service Availability section icon

Service Availability

The Shard and this website are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranty — express or implied — that service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any data will be preserved. Server-side issues, hosting outages, software bugs, and force-majeure events occur. We work to minimize them, but we cannot guarantee continuity.

Maintenance windows, planned downtime, version upgrades, world-wipes (announced separately if ever necessary), and emergency restarts are routine parts of operating a UO shard. By playing here you acknowledge and accept that interruption may occur with or without notice.

Limitation of Liability section icon

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Immortal Realm and its operators, staff, and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Shard or this website. This includes loss of in-game assets, account state, time spent playing, patron subscription value, or any other claim arising from service interruption, account action, or content removal.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

DMCA & Copyright Takedowns section icon

DMCA & Copyright Takedowns

If you are a rights holder and believe content on this website or within the Shard infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice. Notices should include: (a) identification of the work claimed to be infringed; (b) identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement under penalty of perjury that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf; (e) your physical or electronic signature.

Submit notices to the contact address listed in the Contact section below. We respond to good-faith takedown notices promptly. Counter-notices are accepted under the same standards.

Indemnification section icon

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Immortal Realm and its operators, staff, and contributors from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from: (a) your violation of these terms or the Server Rules; (b) your violation of any third-party right (including intellectual-property rights of others); (c) your use of the Shard or this website in a manner that causes harm to another party.

Changes to These Terms section icon

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time as the Shard evolves, as our infrastructure changes, or as legal requirements shift. Material changes will be announced through the in-game Town Cryer system and through a dated update on this page. Continued use of the Shard or this website after changes go live constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Past versions of these terms are not archived publicly. The version effective on this page at the time you read it is the version that applies.

Governing Law section icon

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Shard's primary operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that operator's jurisdiction.

Contact section icon

Contact

For legal notices, copyright takedowns, account disputes that cannot be resolved through normal staff channels, or other formal correspondence, reach out through the contact path published on the Shard's official Discord server. For routine support, the standard help paths in /guide/immortal-realm-help-and-support and the in-game [help command are the right channels.
