A pet-focused PvE template for Immortal Realm. Tamers manage pets as their primary damage and survival source — the player handles positioning and support; the pets handle the fight.
Quick Facts
| Role | Solo PvE with pet companion |
| Skill total | 700 |
| Difficulty to play | Medium (pet management, positioning) |
| Difficulty to train | Hard (Taming gain is slow) |
| Training time to working | 50-100 hours |
| Time to grandmaster | 150-250 hours (Taming bottleneck) |
| Pairs with | Beast Collection, Dungeons, civic engagement |
Skill Template
| Skill | Target | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Animal Taming | 100 | Tame and command pets |
| Animal Lore | 100 | Pet effectiveness, bond, info |
| Veterinary | 100 | Heal pets in combat |
| Magery | 80-100 | Utility, support spells |
| Resist Spells | 80-100 | Survival |
| Music | 80 | Music gates Provocation/Peacemaking |
| Meditation | 60 | Mana for Magery support |
Total: 600-640 depending on Magery and Resist target levels (100+100+100+80-100+80-100+80+60 ≥ 600, ≤ 640). The remaining 60-100 unspent points sit in reserve for hybrid choices (Provocation + Peacemaking for the bard-side absorption mentioned in the FAQ, or push Meditation to 80, or trade Music down for combat pivot).
Training Order
| Stage | Push To | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Trainers | Taming 30, Lore 30, Vet 30 | NPC trainers; small early animals |
| 2 — Easy pets | Taming 50 (small mobs) | Tame your first reliable pet |
| 3 — Pet care | Lore 60, Vet 60 | Keep pets alive in real fights |
| 4 — Mid-tier pets | Taming 80 | Mid-tier pets unlock |
| 5 — Magery | Magery 60-80 | Recall + heal scrolls |
| 6 — Top-tier pets | Taming 100, Lore 100 | Greater Dragons and equivalents |
Taming gain is the bottleneck. Plan on slow grinding — the path from 70 to 100 Taming is the longest stretch in this template.
Stats
| Stat | Target | Why |
|---|---|---|
| INT | 100 | Mana for Magery + Vet bandages |
| STR | 80 | HP and carrying capacity |
| DEX | 45 | Casting speed |
A Tamer with 100 INT can support pets longer in extended fights.
Gear
Starter gear:
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|

| Pack | Bandages × 100, reagents |
| Other | Pet whistle, lead, blank pet collars |
Mid-game gear:
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|

| Spellbook | Standard spellbook |
| Pet items | Pet bonding orbs, training items |
Late-game gear:

Pet Selection
A starter Tamer's pet progression:
| Stage | Pets |
|---|---|
| 0-50 Taming | Cats, dogs, rats, llamas, donkeys |
| 50-70 Taming | Wolves, hellhounds, alligators, polar bears |
| 70-90 Taming | Frenzied ostards, kirins, ki-rins, dread spiders |
| 90-100 Taming | Cu Sidhes, white wyrms, lesser dragons |
| 100+ Taming | Greater dragons, swampies, top-tier hybrids |
The exact "best" pet shifts with shard balance changes. Cu Sidhe is the classic "I have one good pet" choice for mid-skill players because it's accessible at 90 Taming and durable.
Stable Management
You can stable up to 5 pets at any stable master. Stable rules:
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Maximum stable slots | 5 (more with specific items/expansions) |
| Stable cost | Small per-pet fee |
| Pet bonding | Required to resurrect a dead pet |
| Bond duration | Persistent once established |
Practical stable strategy:
- Keep one general-combat pet active.
- Stable a backup combat pet.
- Stable a transport pet (Pack Llama).
- Stable a specialty pet (one for water, one for poison, one for special content).
Gold Strategy
How to fund this build:
| Stage | Income Source |
|---|---|
| Early | Sell tamed pets to other players (NPC vendors pay poorly) |
| Mid | Pet-sit / sell trained mid-tier pets |
| Late | Greater Dragon trading, dungeon farming with pets |
Tamers can earn surprisingly well by selling trained pets — a 90+ skill pet has real player market value.
Weaknesses
| Weakness | Mitigation |
|---|---|
| Slow Taming gain | Patience; or train alongside a friend who heals you |
| Pet death panic | Always carry resurrect bandages + Vet to 100 |
| Swarm content | Pets struggle vs many small mobs; magery AOE helps |
| PvP exposure | Tamers are vulnerable solo in Felucca; bring backup |
How This Build Connects to Systems
| System | Connection |
|---|---|
| Beast Collection | Direct fit — share Marks of Trust |
| Civic Orders | Some Orders have non-combat dialogue with Tamers |
| Daily Ledger | Some daily tasks favor pet damage |
| Dungeons | Strong solo dungeon presence with right pet |
When to Respec
This template stays effective long-term. Consider a respec when:
- You want pure Bard play (drop Taming/Vet, add Provocation/Peacemaking).
- You want to add Necromancy for combat-buff hybrid.
- You want to drop Music for additional combat skill (Resist higher, etc).
