Immortal Realm has gold plus a layer of parallel currencies tied to specific gameplay loops. This page is the reference: what each currency is, how you earn it, what it buys, and whether it's tradeable.

| River Marks | Fish Collection | No |

Gold
The realm's universal currency.
| Earned from | Monsters, NPCs, vendors, trade, auctions |
| Spent at | Anything that costs money |
| Tradeable | Yes (player-to-player) |
| Stack limit | Bank checks for amounts ≥ 1000gp |
| Notes | No Felucca gold multiplier on this shard — gold drops at the same rate per monster on either facet |
Standard UO economy. Carry small amounts; bank what matters.
Time Tokens
The shard's playtime currency.
| Earned from | Active playtime, quests, Daily Ledger, achievements |
| Spent at | Token vendors (cosmetics, utility items, account-bound rewards) |
| Tradeable | No (account-bound) |
| Earn rate | Passive while online + bonus from quests/dailies |
| Notes | All-complete Daily Ledger pays a 3-token bonus |
The full system is documented at Time Tokens. Time Tokens are deliberately not tradeable — they reward the player who earned them, not whoever has the most gold.
PvP Tokens
The Felucca-side parallel reward currency. Unique among the parallel currencies: it's a stackable item, not an account counter.
| Earned from | Felucca activities (PvP, Fel-only catches, champion spawns) |
| Spent at | PvP-themed reward catalog |
| Tradeable | Yes — they're stackable "pursuit token" items in your pack |
| Notes | Felucca-only earnings; doesn't accumulate from Trammel content |
If you stay on Trammel, you'll never see these. If you go to Felucca, expect them as a secondary income stream alongside Powerscroll drops, Fel-exclusive crafting materials (Fel Iron, Blood Crystal, Draconic Scale), and Felucca-only quest content.
Frog Coins
Currency for the Frog Collection system.
| Earned from | Catching unique frogs — flat 1 Frog Coin per catch regardless of common, rare, or secret. (The Time/PvP-Token bonuses differ between Trammel and Felucca catches, but Frog Coin yield is fixed.) |
| Spent at | Frogsworth (vendor — opens at VendorUnlockThreshold = 10 base frogs caught) |
| Tradeable | No (account-bound, stored under the FrogCoins account tag) |
| Total available | 60 base frogs + rares/secrets each pay 1 — total tracks the catalog count |
| Notes | Lives as a per-account counter, not an inventory item |
The account-bound design matches every other parallel collection currency on the shard: each player's catalog progress is their own.
Bells
Currency for the King Whiskers Cat Collection.
| Earned from | Petting unique cats. Flat 1 bell for each common cat, 3 bells for rare cats (60-64, night-only/hidden), 10 bells for the two secret cats (65-66, triggered by interactions). |
| Spent at | King Whiskers (wandering NPC — shop opens after threshold) |
| Tradeable | No (account-bound, stored under the CatBells account tag) |
| Total available | 60 common (1 bell each) + 5 rare (3 each) + 2 secret (10 each) = 95 bells if every entry is collected |
| Notes | King Whiskers wanders between cities; finding him is part of the fun |
The shop carries cosmetics, the Cat Whisperer title deed, and decorative items.
Marks of Trust
Currency for the Beast Collection.
| Earned from | Beast catalog entries (1 per entry, more for difficult conditions) |
| Spent at | Rhoswen Greencoat (Rhoswen's Sanctuary) |
| Tradeable | No (account-bound) |
| Notes | Higher-difficulty entries pay more Marks |
River Marks
Currency for the Fish Collection. Separate currency from Marks of Trust — the two collections do not share a wallet.
| Earned from | Fish catalog entries |
| Spent at | Silas Rivers (the Old Angler) |
| Tradeable | No (account-bound) |
| Notes | Higher-difficulty fish pay more Marks |
Herbarium Scrip
Currency for the Living Herbarium.
| Earned from | Cultivar archival, family-completion bonuses, curator commissions |
| Spent at | Living Herbarium curator (foraging packets, milestones, prestige items) |
| Tradeable | No |
| Total available | ~80-100 from full archive completion |
| Notes | Foraging packets bought with Scrip accelerate future archival |
Self-contained gardener currency. The curator's prestige items (Cultivar-Keeper title, Wall Plaque) gate substantial Scrip costs.
Archive Marks
Primary currency for Lost Recoveries. Separate from Marks of Trust and River Marks.
| Earned from | Recovering catalog entries from treasure chests and SOS bottles |
| Spent at | Lost Recoveries curator |
| Tradeable | No (account-bound) |
| Notes | Higher-tier entries pay more Marks |
Legendary Fragments
Tier-2 currency for Lost Recoveries.
| Earned from | Specific catalog work (advanced sets, legendary recoveries) |
| Spent at | Lost Recoveries curator's higher-tier shop |
| Tradeable | No |
| Notes | Post-introductory currency; appears once basic Archive Marks have been spent |
Commendations
Second tier-2 currency for Lost Recoveries.
| Earned from | Curator-issued commendations for completed sets |
| Spent at | Lost Recoveries curator's prestige tier |
| Tradeable | No |
| Notes | Unlocks vendor tiers and the highest-end items |
How Currencies Stack
A serious player accumulates many currencies in parallel. A typical engaged character might hold:
- Gold (bank + pack)
- Time Tokens (account-bound, passive growth)
- Frog Coins (account-bound; spend at Frogsworth)
- Bells (cat-collection-specific)
- Marks of Trust (Beast Collection)
- River Marks (Fish Collection)
- Herbarium Scrip (gardening progress)
- Archive Marks (Lost Recoveries)
None of these crowd each other. Engaging with one system pays its currency without affecting the others.
What Currencies Don't Do
| Currency | Doesn't Buy |
|---|---|
| Gold | Time Tokens (no Time Token vendor takes gold) |
| Time Tokens | Power (rewards are cosmetic/utility) |
| Frog Coins | Anything outside Frogsworth's shop |
| Bells | Anything outside King Whiskers' shop |
| Marks of Trust | Anything outside Rhoswen's Sanctuary (Beast curator) |
| River Marks | Anything outside Silas Rivers' shop (Fish curator) |
| Herbarium Scrip | Anything outside the Herbarium curator |
| Archive Marks | Anything outside the Lost Recoveries curator |
| PvP Tokens | Anything Trammel-side |
The deliberate isolation prevents cross-cannibalization. Each system pays its loop; each loop has its own shop.
Common Mistakes
- Trying to convert one currency to another. There's no exchange. You pet frogs for Frog Coins; you don't spend gold to buy them.
- Hoarding without spending. Every currency has a shop. Visit it. Spend a portion early to learn what's worth saving for.
- Confusing Time Tokens with PvP Tokens. Trammel content pays Time Tokens; Felucca content pays PvP Tokens. They're separate catalogs.
- Trying to gift a parallel currency to a friend. None of them are tradeable; gold is the only player-to-player currency. Each parallel currency rewards the player who earned it.
