When to Respec

This template handles most PvE casting. Consider a respec when:

  • You want to add Necromancy for Necromage hybrid play.
  • You want to specialize toward PvP (see PvP Mage Build).
  • You want to add Taming/Lore for a hybrid pet+caster path.
  • You want to specialize toward Chirurgeon Build civic play.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mage or Necromage?
Pure Mage uses standard Magery + Eval Int + Meditation. Necromage adds Necromancy and Spirit Speak as utility skills, trading some pure Magery damage for chivalry-style buffs and undead synergy. The base Mage template here is the cleanest starting point; Necromancy can be added once you've got Magery to 80+ and decided you want the hybrid feel.
Do I need Wrestling or Magic Resist higher first?
Resist Spells first (PvE matters less for Wrestling than PvP). Wrestling caps your effective spell-disrupt window in PvP but matters less when you're fighting NPCs. For pure PvE, push Resist to 80 before worrying about Wrestling.
What about pet mages?
A Mage with low Taming/Lore (just enough for a pack of cheap pets) is viable but stretches the template thin. The dedicated Tamer Build is a better fit if you want pet-focused play. The pure Mage here is calibrated for solo casting, not pet management.
